The Math Comment Spam Protection plugin is very good for preventing comment spam on WordPress blogs, but I am now using IntenseDebate for comments because it offers a social networking options as well as spam protection.

Another awesome tool is Intense Debate. That is the comments manager that I am using on this blog. Intense Debate is an Automattic company, which is the same guys who developed WordPress. It has some built in setting for Akismet, a social comment spam filter and some other bits that help you set rules on when a comment is flagged.

Either method should get rid of your comment spam and let you focus on other, more important things.

How did you come across my blog? Please let me know if you remember.

Thanks for the tip. Some of the WP spam is certainly peculiar and definitely annoying.
