So during my time at each of those companies, I constantly got in trouble with management for working on “non-approved” projects. It didn’t even matter to them that one of my projects saved the company $300k. Instead of getting a raise or promotion for all of the good I did, I received bad annual reviews for not towing the company line.

What I learned in corporate America:

	It’s hard to get your ideas heard in a corporate environment.
	Your boss isn’t interested in selling your ideas to his boss.
	Your boss needs you to stay in your current position.
	Managers get paid to manage, not come up with new ideas.

That led me to look outside of Corporate America for people who had great ideas and needed the web development skills I could provide. With a college degree and the experience from working my way up through help desk, computer support, server support, software programming, and project management, I discovered that I was an ideal person to have on someone’s team.
