Once again main stream media is promoting another Internet phenomena. It is said that art imitates life and the just released Julie and Julia movie is sure to be another premium example of this.

In case you don’t know, Julie and Julia is a movie that parallels the story of two women who overcome their fears as they embark on a new paths in life. Julie is a writer turned office worker who feels powerless in her job, and Julia, who becomes the famous Julia Child, feels she has no direction in her life. Both characters learn to overcome their environment and their own personal fears to become more than they ever thought they could be.

Here is the 2 minute movie trailer to give you a sense of what the story is all about.

Overall, this movie emphasizes the worn spirit of the modern office worker, and it shows how blogging offers up a whole new world of possibilities to anyone who has the desire to be heard. Julie even says in the movie, “I can write a blog. I have thoughts!”

This is true of anyone. It’s true of you. Everyone has ideas and thoughts, and everyone wants people to be heard. I think this movie is going to push blogging further into the awareness of everyone who sees it and it will inspire people everywhere to create their own blog and unleash their own dreams.

The movie doesn’t talk about running an online business. That conversation will happen on sites like Open Source Marketer, over Twitter discussions and at Meetup groups like the Frisco Internet Entrepreneurs. Regardless of where they take place, you can bet they will happen. Movies like Julie and Julia inspire imaginations and change the way people see themselves and the world around them.

I can’t wait to have those conversations over the next few weeks,

I’ve been really looking forward to seeing this movie – my daughter wants to see it, too. Maybe it will inspire her to start her own site. She’s been hesitant so far. I have sites for my boys, but, they’ve yet to do anything with them. We’ll see…

It’s an inspiring story from both sides. It just feels real without all the rose colored glasses that film making usually applies to story telling. Go see it if it’s still out in your area. Then come back tell me if you agree or not.

I like how it emphasizes the screwups. It keeps the story realistic. I don’t like how they cut Amy Adam’s hair. Why?!

I’ll be sure to watch this movie.

Overall I liked how the movie never focused on the technical side of things or dipped to deep into blogging itself. They did a good job of showing the human side of the blogging process. Food blogging has really become a hot topic, so it was also interesting to see that portrayed in the film.

Let me know what you think after you see the movie.
