Online Marketing Advice In Everyday Language

How To Write Like A Super Affiliate

Posted by OpenSourceMarketer On August - 2 - 2007

Write like a super affiliate I recently received an Associate Programs newsletter from Allan Gardyne. In the newsletter he linked to an interesting new product he is selling called SpeedPPC (Speed Pay Per Click). So I clicked through to see what the software was all about and what I found was not only an attractive product offering, but also an article about super affiliate marketing that I just had to highlight for you.

After reading about the software and it’s affiliate program I started poking around the affiliate site to see what type of affiliate tools were available to promote the product. Allan has been making money on affiliate marketing since 1998 so I know he has some things to teach me, so I use his writings as a model for learning more about successful marketing online.

As part of his affiliate tools I found an article entitled, “How to promote SpeedPPC like a super affiliate”. In the article Allan gives some universal advice that I believe you can apply to just about any product promotion or online sales process you might be planning. Take a look at these pearls of wisdom and commit them to memory. Print this page if you have to and pin them on your cork board until they are second nature.

Allan wrote:

When you’re sending follow-up emails to your subscribers, DON’T merely repeat whatever you said in the first message. If you do, your readers will feel that you’re just blasting them with ads.

Each time you send a follow-up, choose a DIFFERENT aspect of the system to emphasize.

How long should your email be? As long as it takes to tell your story.

And that’s exactly what you need to do - tell a story. Stories enable you to form a connection with your readers. First you form connections, then you make sales.

ALWAYS talk about the benefits, don’t just list features. You know what benefits are - they’re the things you write about when you’re answering the “So what?” questions.

Here’s a strange thing… I’ve noticed that the newsletters I’ve sent out which have received the most complaints are very often ALSO the newsletters which achieve the MOST SALES.

One of the commonest mistakes that newbie affiliates make is repeating the affiliate merchant’s sales letter. The poor would-be customer reads what the affiliate has to say, then goes to the website and has to read it all again.

Those are some great points to consider no matter where you are in your sales development process. As I said, this is universal advice that makes sense and gets results. Allan does a great job of training his affiliates which is an important part of his success and his affiliates success.

I haven’t purchased the product yet, but I can tell you that just on the affiliate tools alone, I am impressed. Also, who can argue with turning a 145 hour job into a 12 minute task. I plan to set aside some time in the next few days to review my current pay per click advertising to see where I can benefit from SpeedPPC.

I’ll keep you posted on my results.

Here are a few highlights of what SpeedPPC is suppose to do for you:

  • Roll out highly targeted, high converting PPC campaigns 72,500% faster. SpeedPPC helps you turn a month of full time work into minutes worth.
  • Dramatically decrease your PPC costs by using very small, tightly focused ad groups to increase click through rates, without the extra work normally required.
  • Significantly increase your landing page conversion rates by dynamically matching it perfectly with the original keyword.
  • Create perfectly matching landing pages for every single keyword in your campaign automatically.
  • Create perfectly matching ads for each laser focused ad group pushing your click through rates sky high and reducing your costs.
  • Achieve amazing Google AdWords quality scores to allow for extremely low minimum bids.
  • Powerfully leverage the long tail traffic in a way that you thought would not have been possible without full time staff.
  • Track every ad group and every keyword with surgical precision so you can tweak your campaigns into profitability. This includes affiliate and CPA offers that you couldn’t normally track easily.

If you have used this product, then please leave your comments about it below so everyone can share in your experience. Or, if you have questions about the product and would like me to find out an answer then leave your comments here and I will do my best to give you an answer right on the blog.

BeachBum Said,

I love when there is an affiliate center. But keep in mind all the affiliates have access to that info. After you make your first sale, contact the merchant and see fi they have any additional tips for you. That way you get tips that aren’t as well known.

OpenSourceMarketer Said,

Definitely great advice. I like to think of affiliate marketing in terms of developing a real relationship. Everyone wins when you can get behind a solid product that offers real value to your customers. Good affiliate marketers know that the more empowered you are as an affiliate, the more they stand to make. They have every reason to develop a relationship with you if you show genuine interest and produce results. Well equipped affiliates represent an huge silent sales force that does a great deal of work to the marketers behalf largely on the promise of piece of the action. It’s really not enough just to sign up for affiliate programs if your not going to consider it in terms of a relationship. As an affiliate we should want the customer to succeed and the marketer to succeed because in the end that means we are succeeding as well. Good marketers know this and will do what it takes to put the tools in your hand to make it happen.

Allan Gardyne Said,

Hi Charles, Thanks for your kind words.

OpenSourceMarketer, you’re comments are spot on. When I look through the sales stats of affiliates who are promoting SpeedPPC, it’s really obvious that the ones who are earning the most have built a very strong relationship with their readers, who have learned to trust their opinions. These affiliates deserve the $248.50 commissions we’re paying them. :)
