Join An Internet Marketing Social Community
Blog Promotion, Internet Entrepreneurs, Social Networking March 14th, 2008Today I’m opening up a brand new web 2.0 social networking piece for Open Source Marketer. I am totally excited about it and I want you to be a part of it too.
The social networking site is geared at connecting Internet Entrepreneurs to help everyone learn how to market online as quickly as possible. There is so much going on these days that it just doesn’t make sense to try and do everything alone.
Go there now and sign up and you’ll see everything I’m about to write about:

Hopefully you’ve been watching how social networking and video have exploded. Well, they’re about to get even bigger. If the blog killed the website, then social networking and rich media are going to kill the blog, or at least change the way you think about content creation.
Social networking sites are huge and growing in popularity every day. One report I read said that a social networking site like Facebook draws more site visitors per day than Google! Now that’s saying a lot and with the maturing of technologies like Open Social, social sites are going to continue to dominate much of the Internet’s attention.
Since last year when Facebook announced that they were allowing people to create applications that could be displayed inside Facebook I’ve been listening to the social networking buzz. And now, as MySpace launches social applications, I’m seeing that the next step is to jump in and be an active part of the social networking scene.
That’s exactly why I decided it was time to start the Open Source Marketer Social Networking Community. Make sure you understand what I am saying here. This IS the time to get involved and learn what you need to do to grow a strong online business while everyone is trying to learn how to use the tools. If you think the wave has already passed and you missed it, your wrong.
Now is the time.
The doors are open so come join us. I’ve posted videos to the community and a lot more will be posted in the coming days and weeks. Be sure to post your own audio, videos, blog posts, and pictures after you get logged in. Everything you need to set up camp is available on your profile page, so let me know if you have questions.
Also, be sure to start a conversation in the community forum to start learning and sharing with other Internet Entrepreneurs right away.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Rock On!

PS. The 100th person to sign up for the community gets a 1 hour conference call with me where I will answer your questions, or I’ll tell you personally how I’ve been using niche stores to make money online.

I’m not sure about the usefulness of social networking.
Most stuff on facebook has a quick buzz and then dies.
I’m on it and so far have gained few readers for my blog.
So, at the moment I’m a sceptic. Just because people are on facebook doesn’t mean they are doing anything useful or financially meaningful. Most people use the sites to communicate with a select group. I’m willing to be convinced but you’ll have to show me that it is worth my time.

Wow! I didn’t know that the Facebook traffic has exceeded Google.

If you think about, people visit Google when they are looking for something, but a social network like FaceBook can attract visitors everyday to interact with friends. Here’s an informal test: Are you using Facebook? If so, how often do you use it compared to Google?

Evan. I hear your very valid concern. It’s all well and good, but show me the money is a common sentiment. I’ll try to bring in some resources on this topic. I think it’s important to consider that this is all new territory so there is a maturing period where people will learn how to use the social marketing space more effectively. That being said, I think it is worth being an early adopter and student of the topic because the more we learn now, the less we will have to run to catch up later. How long have you been on FaceBook?

I’ve been on facebook for about six months.

Have you taken a look at their advertising model or created a fan page? There are some interesting aspects to both. There are also opportunities out there for including affiliate promotions in FaceBook applications. Have you looked at any thing within your topic area?
