Stepping In Front Of Your Blog

creative-vado-hd-smallIs it time to step away from your keyboard and get in front of your blog? This is a question I’ve been thinking about over the past several weeks and I’ve decided, yes it’s definitely time.

It’s time to put a face to the words. It’s time to let people see you in action. It’s time to embrace the power of video so that you can create content anywhere you go using a a device that fits in your pocket. As social media grows in popularity, people will begin to demand that we step in front of our blogs. They may not verbally demand it, but they will vote with their mouse, so why not just move to the next level.

That’s why I bought a Creative Vado HD pocket video camera last week. Using video, I plan to step in front of Open Source Marketer and open up a brand new communication channel between the two of us. You can expect to see the blog fill up with video content and in-depth how-tos.

As soon as I can get my hands on the camera, the recordings will begin. The Vado HD is suppose to arrive by FedEx today and very soon I’ll be posting videos that will walk you through all the things you need to know to market successfully online. Be sure to watch for those and send me your feedback.

In the meantime, I thought like to see a few of the awesome videos I found while I was researching pocket video cameras.

Here are the top three videos that I used to decide that the Vado HD was the HD pocket camera I wanted to buy.

The first three videos are from Locker Gnome and they highlight the stark differences between the three most popular HD pocket cameras on the market (Flip, Kodak Zi6, and the Creative Vado HD). All three videos are shot at the same time so be sure to watch at least some of each video to see the performance of these pocket cameras.

The next video is a review by a guy on YouTube. I have taken to doing my product research on YouTube when possible because I feel like a I can get enough raw information to make valid decisions without having to go into the store and play with the equipment myself. This doesn’t work for all product of course, but for most things, it works pretty well.

The main take away from this video is the indoor lighting performance. The Vado HD pocket camera seemed to do very well with indoor lighting and specifically low lighting conditions. That was a plus for me because I want to be able to record inside and outside of doors.

The last video shows a guy riding a motorcycle while filming with his Vado HD. The microphone seems to hold up very nicely even though there would naturally be a lot of wind and a lot of engine noise. This was a big selling point for me because if I record outside, I don’t want to the wind to be an issue, and if I record in the car, I don’t want background noise to be a factor either.

So, hopefully the Vado HD will arrive today and I’ll be posting videos very soon. I’ve got a lot of great plans for Open Source Marketer this year so be sure to tune in.
