Does Money Always Motivate Entrepreneurs

Are you completely motivated by money or is there something else that drives you?

Most traditionally minded companies mistakenly think they can improve worker performance be simply providing more financial incentives, but that’s not always true. One of the companies I worked for gave excellent incentives and had a hansom profit sharing structure, but when it came down to inspiring true motivation through creative innovation, they totally missed the mark.

This video from the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) highlights some interesting research about what motivates us to do things.

Well now it seems like I am just trolling on your blog… but had to say I love this video. Ironically I came across it just yesterday.

  • teevee, I’d like to know how they get the video effect. The action is so closely matched with the audio that it’s hard to imagine how they did it. It must have taken a lot of time to produce. At least that’s the perception.

Overall though, I think they nailed the subject. Personally, I know that money only motives me up to a certain point. I’ll work much harder for something that has little monetary, but offers more socially driven dividends.
