Public speaking is commonly cited as the number one fear among adults, even over dying. But what happens after you’ve overcome the fear? If you’re like me, you seek out self help information or expert advice on the subject so you can be as good at the subject as possible.
So today I’m listening to the How To Wow audio book by Frances Cole Jones and playing Star Wars Bounty Hunter on Play Station 2 (PS2 for all you “in the know” gamers). I downloaded the audiobook from Audible so I can listen to it while I’m running, driving, or even playing video games with my kids. Listening to audiobooks has become my number one method of “reading books” and my virtual library is full of self help titles.
In fact, I’ll admit that I’m a self help junky, much like the character of Jane Bingum (played by Brooke Elliott) on the Lifetime hit show Drop Dead Diva. If you are too, don’t worry to much about other people thinking it’s odd. Remember, Socrates is quoted as saying, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” and I think he was right. That’s a pretty powerful statement considering he was on trial for encouraging his students to challenge the accepted beliefs of the time and think for themselves. Luckily these days we don’t have to pay such a high price for a copy of Rich Dad Poor Dad or the Power of Getting Rich.
When I finish the book, I’ll email a summary of presentation tips to my Open Source Marketer Newsletter subscribers. If you would like to receive that email, enter your email address below and I’ll include you.
