How To Format Twitter Display Ads

I  saw this Twitter display ad on the TweetLater website and it got me to thinking how important it is to capitalize the first letter of each word in your Twitter name. This is also called camel casing and it makes reading the text easier when it’s all smashed together in a line.

Since I don’t advertise on TweetLater I wasn’t sure if the ad text was entered this way or if it was being pulled from Twitter automatically. Since TweetLater is all about automating Twitter tasks, I suspect that it’s automated. So I visited the advertisers Twitter profile page to see how their Twitter name and website address were listed.

As you can see, their Twitter name is all lower case and their website address is all lower case text. The only thing that’s camel case is their domain name in their bio. So, my guess is that TweetLater just pulled the details based on their Twitter name.

Here is an example of how they should format their Twitter name and url to get a better display ad format.

Camel casing text and urls is an effective way of increasing the readability of your display ads. This has been proven to be true of pay-per-click Adsense ads and it’s just as true for Twitter display ads.

If you’re going to spend money on advertising, you might as well get every advantage that you can.
